The Research On The Import Of Virtual Land In China

As we all know, land resources for a country’s development, is an indispensable and very important natural resources. Land resources will not only have an important impact on a country’s resources and environment, but also closely related with the country’s economic development and social construction. Today, countries have the land resources as an important strategic issue of national development. In recent years, China’s economy continues to develop and social progress, but the attendant is the serious shortage of land resources, the contradiction between urban construction, agricultural land and ecological environment increasingly fierce. More seriously, land shortage will cause excessive exploitation and utilization of land. This cause soil erosion, land desertification, salinization and a series of land quality degradation problems. It has become one of the important factors that restricts China’s economic, social, and ecological sustainable development. Therefore, solving the problem of land resources shortage and land degradation has become urgent and the priority task at the present stage. As a land-scarce country, we should actively make full use of domestic and foreign land through agricultural trade. Foreign import of agricultural products is equivalent to the domestic part of agricultural production abroad and use foreign land to product agricultural products, which is equivalent to the import part of land resources. China can make use of this part of the agricultural land for development of urban construction or used for ecological environment construction, so as to improve the efficiency and ratio of land input and output and increase the overall benefits of economy, ecology and the society. It is an effective way to solve the problem of land shortage and land degradation, so as to realize sustainable development.This paper is divided into four parts to study the virtual land import of agricultural products in China.The first part is the introduction. According to China’s current natural resources, population,land resources utilization and the research background of virtual land trade, this paper introduces the significance, purpose and content, methods, innovations and shortcomings of the research, and the related domestic and international research status, etc.The second part is the theoretical basis. This part introduces the basic concepts and the basic theories of economics, including the definition of virtual land, the calculation method of its content, comparative advantage theory, factor endowment theory, the theory of land ecological and economic benefits, etc.The third part mainly analyzes the import of virtual land in our country. In this paper, I firstly analyze the situation of China’s land resources utilization, population, the situation of foreign exchange reserves, the situation of international agricultural products supply and so on. The virtual land imports of the United States is also analyzed in the paper to illustrate the necessity and feasibility of the implementation of virtual land imports. Then I introduce the import of agricultural products in China. According to the model of virtual water, I calculate the virtual land content of main agricultural products and the virtual land import volume. At last, the author analyzes the benefits of the virtual land import trade in our country, mainly including three aspects: economic benefit, ecological benefit and social benefit.In the fourth part, the adjustment strategy of the import scale and structure of agricultural products and the land use plan is put forward.
