With signed fishery agreements with neighbouring countries in view of long time overfishing, deterioration of the marine environment, Chinese fishery resources gradually become scarce. Fishermen have been facing the urgent situation of industrial transformation, in this context, fishermen’s employment status is undergoing changes, especially when we cast our eyes to women’s role whose employment situation has been closely scrutinized. Therefore, taking into consideration of industrial transformation process, solid research on the employment of fishing village women in Shanghai will be regarded as an positive reference for scientific implementation of industrial transformation and promote for women’s employment in fishing villages. In addition, it contributes to resolve other regional cases with experiences and lessons. Generally speaking, fishing household income, social status of women and fishing village economic development could also benefit.Currently, with respect to industrial transition of fishermen’s employment, scholars at home and abroad cast their eyes to macro-level indicators such as policy, reason and difficulties. Regarding to research on women’s employment in fishery villages, the perspective from social status is adopted. There is still a gap to be filled with researches on women’s employment in the context of industrial transition. This study, based on the industrial structural adjustment and labour transfer theory, tries to start with analyse Shanghai fisheries’ industrial structure condition. And the study set Shanghai Jinshan Mouth fishing village as the survey spot by using questionnaire and on-the-spot interview. In order to solve the following questions: the situation about fishery transformation, the influence between the female employment in fishing villages and fishery transformation, the reality, the obstacles ahead, the factors impacting the process most. This study organize the longitudinal comparison with nearly 10 years’ relevant data respectively from the fishery economic output value, fisheries labour, fishermen’s income, fishery industry structure to explore and analyse Shanghai fisheries’ industrial structure condition. In order to delve into the employment of women’s employment situation in fishing villages, the study based on the data collected in combination with the actual situation of the fishing village. Then binary Logit regression model has been used to conduct research on the influential factors. Some conclusions could be drawn:Firstly, fishery economic output and fishermen’s income has been growing in contrast with fishing labour shrinking. From structural perspective, fishery output value has been the main component of fishery economic output value, and fishery industry, construction industry, Fisheries development circulation and service industry output value remain relative lag, and the industrial structure is far away from perfect.Secondly, the development of leisure fishery and related culture may drive the development of women’s employment. Nevertheless, poor education level, lack of scientific management, under use of village resources, low aquatic products processing capability, are the problems currently in the process of promoting women’s employment practices.Thirdly, the currently women’s employment rate is 74.38%, and the level of education, whether having their children in school, whether having the old man to be supported, family attitude to her work, her husband’s work industry pass the test of significance, which shows that these factors have significant impact on women’s employment of Jinshan mouth fishing village. In view of the content of this research, we think that promoting women’s employment in fishing village is necessary, enough consideration should be given by related managerial departments and policy makers. Development of fishery economy requires increasing training and learning opportunities, optimizing fishing village management and infrastructure; Full development of cultural industries, and promote the development of leisure fishery; Increase the financial investment, make full use of fishery resources and adhere to the entrepreneurial innovation.
