In this thesis technical variation of project control management is discussed. For uncertainties are existed in real project environment, so technical variation is inevitable during project implementation and it seems necessary to study it in detail. Since the topic is practically meaningful, the decision of which will also influence to the success of a project.The reasons causing technical variation during implementation of project are presented in the thesis from its background of emergence, correspondingly, the framework of countermeasures are also studied. The case study of technical variation of electric system of Shanghai Yangshan deep water harbor is presented hereby. Based on the detailed analysis of the first phase electric power supply alternative, the idea of decision in technical variation of the second phase electric power supply alternative in Shanghai Yangshan deep water harbor characterized in variation management is developed, which is derived by fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method.It is pointed out in the thesis that technical variation of project during project implementation possesses three characters: Lack of cumulated experienced information; shortage in time duration and high efficiency demand. For above reasons, decision management methods such as systematic consideration, Delphi method, brain storm and other methods are used for building the solution framework of technical variation. The results of the studies have been used in the second phase alternative of electric power supply system in Shanghai deep water harbor.The studies have explored how to use scientific decision for technical variation management during project implementation and showed that the technical variation management possesses an integrated part in the course of project control management.
