Automatic weather station is a kind of equipment which can automatically detect, process, store and transmit ground meteorological information.It plays an irreplaceable role in the observation of ground meteorological data. Weather stations generally established in the open, remote places where grid can supply power directly so most meteorological stations using solar system for storage and power supply, therefore, reducing the system power consumption to extend the working time of weather station is extremely important,.At the same time, the decrease of power consumption can reduce the electromagnetic radiation and thermal noise and improve the overall performance of weather station system..At present, the power consumption of domestic automatic weather station is relatively high and the accuracy of data acquisition and the stability of the system need to be improved.Therefore,it is very important to design an automatic weather station with low power consumption and high performance.In this paper, both "the new automatic weather station (climate)" and "functional specifications verification standard" are based on the selection of high performance ARM9 S3C2440A which is used as the processor, using Linux as software development platform to design the embedded hardware and software of automatic weather station, and as to the functional consumption of it ,we will also optimize its software and hardware . From the aspect of hardware, this paper is focused on the design of lower consumption from four aspects including processor selection,interface circuit design, dynamic power management (DPM) and the power supply system rocessor.From the aspect of software,the optimization of low power consumption is regulated by the kernel cutting and dynamic voltage (DVS).The low power automatic weather station which is designed in this paper has collected the data of the six elements of meteorology including temperature,humidity, air pressure, wind speed, wind and rain.It will also control the quality,storage the data and sent them through the wireless GPRS to mobile phone terminal server function. In this paper, through GPS positioning and calibration of meteorological station, and the GPS data sent into Baidu maps can clearly and intuitively show weather station location.In order to retrieve data easily and monitor the site operation,the paper is prepared by the host computer in Labview environment.Through laboratory and field tests, this paper designed six factors of automatic weather station data acquisition accuracy and good stability, running average power consumption of 1.55W,is about 0.37W lower than before optimization power,a decline of 19.27%, to meet the demand of Chinese Meteorological Bureau for a new power consumption lower than 2W automatic weather station.
