China tobacco industry is a special industry sector in the national economy system, it plays an important role in the develop process of society; Improving the production efficiency and the quality of the tobacco are the future directions for every tobacco enterprise.Aluminum foil packing is a working procedure during the tobacco manufacturing process and affect the production efficiency.The traditional method to measure the Aluminum foil residual volume is using the jogging switches,but it has the disadvantages of easily influenced by circumstance and human,and a big error of the measurement result is obtained,leading to the equipment downtime,so the efficiency of production is affected.Paper first analyzes and researches the operating principle and the working performance of the cigarette maker packs,then the reason why the Aluminum foil residual volume is large is found out.According to the actual parameter and working condition, the mathematical model between the aluminum foil thickness and the pulse period is established,on this basis, a new type aluminum foil residual volume controller is developed which the ATmega8 MCU is the core.Controller hardware design uses the modular designing method, peripheral circuit consists of photoelectric sensor QS18VP6DQ module、AD conversion filter circuit、ISP download circuit、display module、HMI module and so on.Software design uses the modular programming method,the C language is adopted to write the programs,realizing the A/D conversion,input signal processing,pulse signal counting, aluminum foil thickness conversion,display and so on.The soft filtering method is used to solve the problem that the unconstant rotate speed of the aluminum foil.The industrial field test results is showed at the last.The results show that the designed system is able to reduce the aluminum foil residual volume from 30m per roll to 4.5m per roll,thousands of RMB is saved for a single equipment monthly, reducing production cost greatly and improving the production efficiency for the enterprise.
