The synthesis and characterization of transition-metal polymer have received considerable interest because of their interesting architectures and potential application in some fields such as magnetochemistry, catalysis and biochemistry. As a polydentate ligand with biological activity,salicylaldehyde Schiff base have been utilized to form polynuclear complexes. In this thesis, Cu-containing/Zn-containing coordination polymers have been synthesized through two interactions:coordination bond and weak interaction between the molecules including hydrogen bond and ?...? interaction.Two hydroxyl-rich alkylol amine ligands have been employed to prepare six Schiff base ligands. And six tetracopper coordination compounds have been obtained by solvothermal method using these Schiff base ligand and Cu(OAc)2·2H2O as materials. There are four compounds with cubic Cu4O4 core structure:Cu4(H2tsha)4·CH3OH (2-1), Cu4(msha)4·4H2O(2-4), Cu4(mshc)4·0.5H2O(2-6) and Cu4(mshb)4·CH3OH(2-5). In additon to 1D 2-4,2-5 shows a2D plane structure and the others are linked by hydrogen bonds and ?...? interaction to form 3D networks. And the other two tetranuclear complexes, Cu4(Htshb)2(py)2(OAc)2(2-2) and Cu4(Htshc)2(py)2(OAc)2 (2-3) contain four copper ions arranged in ladder-like configuration. Magetic measurements revealed that complex 2-1?2-4 and 2-5 show ferromagnetic interactions between Cu(?)and Cu(?). However, compound 2-3 and 2-6 shows an antiferromagnetic interaction.In addition, three salicyladehyde-isonicotinyl-hydrazone ligands synthesized by salicyladehyde and isoniazide have been used to form Zn-containing coordination polymer without addition of the second ligand. [Zn(L1)(py)DMF]n (3-1)? [Zn(L2)(py)DMF]n(3-2) and [Zn2(L3)2]n (3-3) shows an 2D network. Moreover, in compounds 3-1 and 3-2, the ligands occurred nitration reaction.
