Lonicera japonica, notopterygium incisum, Echinacea purpurea(Linn.) Moench, Paeoniae Rubra Radix(PPR) and Dryopteris crassirhizoma are traditional chinese medicines. They have effect of detoxification and are commonly used in the treatment of cold. So They are the raw herbs of variety of chinese patent medicines for the treatment of cold. The quality of raw herbs and extraction process is the most important factor for the guarantee of medicine quality. This paper used the high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to detect the quantity of chlorogenic acid, chicory acid and paeoniflorin which are respectly in Lonicera japonica, Echinacea purpurea(Linn.) Moench and PPR and we obtained their standard curve. The curve of chlorogenic acid has good linearity in the concentration range of 0.01 mg/mL to 0.05 mg/mL. The linear regression equation is y=44729x-4.31 and the correlation coefficient r2=0.9991. The curve of chicory acid has good linearity in the concentration range of 0.01 mg/mL to 0.05 mg/mL. The linear regression equation is y=157340x+8.4 and the r2=0.9972. The curve of paeoniflorin has good linearity in the concentration range of 0.1 mg/mL to 0.5 mg/mL. The linear regression equation is y=22178x+414.85 and the r=0.9993. The three raw herbs have good system adaptability. Through determination, we found mass percentage of chlorogenic acid in Lonicera japonica is 2.11%, echinacea in Echinacea purpurea(Linn.) Moench is 0.31% and paeoniflorin in PPR is 5.89%.In addition of quality analysis for single herb, We also sudied the quality conthol method of extractives from the five raw herbs. We established a UV method for detection of chlorogenic acid content and TLC method for detection of chicory acid content. We also using GC/MS method to detect the ingredient of volatile oil and analyzed more than 21 kinds of components in it. Cooperation of these detection methods, not only can be used to detect ingredient and its quantity in a single herb, it can also be applied to the analysis of extracts from mixed herbs. What's more, in this paper, we studied the technology of effective components extration from five raw herbs, inclusion of volatile oil and granulation. We detected the quantity of chlorogenic acid, chicory acid, paeoniflor in ectratives from mixed herbs and found their mass percentage were 0.87%,0.06% and 0.24% respectively. Nextly, we conducted a pilot-scale experiments and analysed the extracts. The work in this paper play a important role in guide production and provide the basis for development of echinacea, honeysuckle and notopterygium.
