In order to improve the water environment in urban rivers and enhance the residential environment in Yangzhou, Yangzhou decided to use flowing water drainage system which make the Grand Canal water into urban rivers.Thus the water into urban rivers flows, which accelerates the dilution of urban rivers and improve the quality of river environment.This paper discusses the laws of dilution diffusion and purification of pollutants in river network, based on the theory of dilution and purification and water quality improved by using flowing water drainage.Computing models of water quantity required to dilute rivers are established.Relevant model parameters are given according to the water quality protection goals of planed water diversion and constraint condition of the river network. Main contents of this work are as follows:(1) The water quality of urban rivers in the Xicheng zone is analyzed and evaluated by using single factor index method.The results show the water quality only in Yanshan rivers is of standard state.On the basis of observed the water quality monitoring data,The water quality of Yinchao River is the worst.And ammonia is the most serious pollutants beyond the standard among those several indexes.(2) The quantity of every important pollutants entering urban rivers is Calculated by Divided them into point source and non-point sources and endogenous categories. In summary, the total amount of pollutants into the river in 2012 as COD is 12.50 t/d, BOD5 is 5.99 t/d, ammonia is 0.83 t/d.The total amount of pollutants into the river in 2020 as COD is 9.94 t/d, BOD5 is 4.30 t/d, ammonia is 0.65 t/d.(3) Water quantity in 2012:The quantity of flowing water in Part ? for the first time is 991,200 m3.The quantity of flowing water in Part ? for the first time is 994,200 m3.The drainage sustained 24 h and start over after 1 d.The quantity of flowing water in Zone ? for each time after first is 813,700 m3.This work is completed within 20 h and start over after 1 d.The quantity of flowing water in Zone ? for each time after first is 805,800 m3.This work is completed within 20 h and start over after 1 d.The drainage for the first time is continuous operation and flow controlled.It can be gradually intermittent operation for the second time and later.The water quality can be guaranteed up to ? class 4 days later.Water quantity in 2020:The quantity of flowing water in entire zone for the first time is 271.53 M3.The drainage sustained 48 h and start over after 1 d.Flowing water drainage used to control urban river water environment has good treatment effect, low operating costs, applicability,high feasibility and other advantages.If we could cope flowing water drainage with the relevant river pollution control measures, the system problems of how to improve water environment can be gradually solved.
