With the increasing urban air monitoring sites and monitoring items, the amount of monitoring instruments and data are growing, traditional relational databases when dealing with vast amounts of real-time data, throughput and timeliness have been unable to meet the needs of the business. To solve this problem, applying the real-time database to air quality monitoring system.Firstly, the paper studied related technologies and specifications of the air monitoring systems and the real-time database systems, cleared the design goals of air quality monitoring system.Then according to functional requirements and design principles, outline was designed from the overall system architecture, data flow and network topology respectively. Aiming to build a large-scale computer application system for embedded systems, distributed systems, database technology, browser / server network computing model, client / server network computing model connected by the public network virtual private network. In the specific design, architecture of sub-station and central station were designed based by the real-time database as the core of the system, to complete field data collection and storage, device control, data transmission, human machine interaction, data exchange interface with third-party systems and other functions.Finally, a city air quality monitoring project was given to test the feasibility of the design, the paper's research has a significant effect for improving the data's real-time and instruments regulatory capacity of environment air quality monitoring.
