Main pollutant of the so-called oily sewage are water insoluble organic compounds or those with low solubility. The oily sewage have a wide range of source and serious damages, the effect of oil removal have a great influence on subsequent process. The coalescence plate separator, which combines the gravity separation and coalescence technology, is with great attention in engineering application due to its special advantages of environment friendly, low cost, high efficient and compact. 2D sine-wavy plate is used for the first time as coalescing plate in this article for design of 2D sine-wavy coalescence plate separator, a surface modification treatment is also given to strengthen oil-water separation. The special structure of 2D sine-wavy plate and the effect of surface modification on oil-water separation is revealed via numerical simulation.During the structure simulation for 2D sine-wavy plate, firstly, the flow behavior in flow channel of the three usually used plate in engineering are qualitative compared. It shows that sine-wavy plate has a bigger threshold velocity. At second, two geometrical factors, namely, shape ratio ? and aspect ratio ? are introduced, when the velocity is in the range, which suits for oil-water separation and ?, ??1, the geometry of wave influences little on flow of fluid. At last, through analysis of effect of the four coalescence plate separator with different wavy plate(Stokes-Pak, Plate-Pak, Vsideling plate, 2D sine-wavy plate), it results that the effect of two-direction wavy coalescence plate separator is obviously better as the one-direction wavy coalescence plate separator, 2D sine-wavy coalescence plate separator is a little more effective as the V-sideling plate coalescence plate separator.As the surface modification simulation of 2D sine-wavy plate, the contact angle between dispersion phase and wavy plate is introduced for the first time, for each phase, when contact angle ?<90°, it indicates wetting, ?>90° indicates no wetting. After surface modification, corrugated plate surface's support for the oil-phase is enhanced, thickness of the intermediate layer reduce, oil-phase gathering area at bottom increase, separation efficiency is improved.Finally, with response surface methodology is the dimension of efficient separation zone of the coalescence plate separator optimized, it provides a reference for the further develop of the effective and compact industrial coalescence plate separator.
