The neutral aroma components were detected from the upper tobacco leaves and middle tobacoo leaves in eleven tobacco counties(Enshi and Yichang,Shiyan,Xiangyang)of Hubei province.Correlation between important neutral aroma components and physical and chemical characteristics(chemical components,physical properties,sensory quality and appearance quality)were analyzed,and correlation between neutral aroma components and ecological factors in different tobacco county were analyzed too in this study.The characteristics of neutral aroma components in the different county of Hubei Province were classified,and the quality of tobacco in different area was evaluated.The main conclusions are as follows:1.11 tobacco counties in this study were classified into two categories according to the neutral aroma components of upper tobacco leaves:the first region were Hefeng,Xuanen,Enshi,Lichuan,Nanzhang;the second region were Badong,Zigui,Zhuxi,Baokang,Fangxian.11 tobacco counties were classified into two categories according to the neutral aroma components of middle tobacco leaves:the first region were Lichuan,Xuanen,Hefeng,Enshi,Baokang,Nanzhang;the second regions were Padang,Zhushan,Zigui,Zhuxi,Fangxian.2.Variance analysis and principal component analysis of neutral aroma components from the upper leaves was conducted:significant difference of ten neutral aroma components was found in two categories of areas,and the ten neutral aroma components were Furfural,1,2,3,4-four hydrogen-1,1,6-trimethyl naphthalene,Indole,(3-dihydro damascenone,Megastigmatrienone(B,C,D),Neophytadiene and Duvatriencdiol respectively.In the middle leaves,significant difference of nine neutral aroma components was found in two categories of areas,and the nine neutral aroma components were Furfural,Furfuryl alcohol,5-methylfurfural,Methylheptenol,2-acetylpyrrole,2,5-dihydroxytoluene,Safranal,Solanone and Gum rosin respactively.3.Correlation was analyzed between principal neutral aroma components and chemical properties.Both in the upper and middle leaves,nicotine and total nitrogen showed positive correlation with principal aroma components.High positive correlation was showed between Nicotine and Megastigmatrienone A.Total nitrogen showed high positive correlation with Benzaldehyde and Megastigmatrienone A.Total sugar,sugar-nicotine ratio,reducing sugar showed negative correlation with key aroma components.4.Correlation was analyzed between principal neutral aroma components and physical properties.In the upper leaves,stem ratio,leaf length and length-width ratio showed positive correlation with the key aroma components.Length-width ratio had high positive correlation with Methylheptenol,?-dihydro damascenone and Duvatriencdiol,and leaf width showed negative correlation with the key aroma components.In the middle leaves,leaf length,length-width ratio showed positive correlation with the key aroma components.Weight per leaf and leaf width showed negative correlation with the key aroma components.5.Correlation was analyzed between principal neutral aroma components and sensory quality.In the upper leaves,quality of aroma showed negative correlation with 1,2,3,4-four hydrogen-1,1,6-trimethyl naphthalene and Megastigmatrienone B.Concentration of aroma showed medium negative correlation with furfural and 1,2,3,4-four hydrogen-1,1,6-trimethyl naphthalene.Irritation showed medium negative correlation with a-Ionone,4-(2,6,6-trimethyl-1,3-cyclohexadien-1-yl)-2-Butanone,Edulan and Megastigmatrienone A.Total points showed medium negative correlation with Safranal,1,2,3,4-four hydrogen-1,1,6-trimethyl naphthalene,a-Ionone,4-(2,6,6-trimethyl-1,3-cyclohexadien-1-yl)--2-Butanone,Edulan and Megastigmatrienone(B,C,D).Availability showed medium negative correlation with Furfural,1,2,3,4-four hydrogen-1,16-trimethyl naphthalene,?-Damascenone,a-Ionone,4-(2,6,6-trimethyl-1,3-cyclohexadien-1-yl)-2-Butan-one,Edulan,Neophytadiene and Megastigmatrienone(B,C,D).In the middle leaves,quality of aroma,aftertaste and total points showed medium negative correlation with Furfural and Furfuryl alcohol.Offensive odor showed medium negative correlation with Furfural,Furfuryl alcohol,5-methylfurfural,2-acetylpyrrole and 2,5-dihydroxytoluene.Irritation showed medium negative correlation with Furfural,Furfuryl alcohol,Benzaldehyde,5-methylfurfural,Methylheptenol,2-acetylpyrrole and 2,5-dihydroxytoluene.Impact showed medium positive correlation with Solanone;Availability showed medium negative correlation with Caproaldehyde,Furfural and Furfuryl alcohol.6.Correlation was analyzed between principal neutral aroma components and quality of appearance.In the upper leaves,Color showed medium positive correlation with a-Ionone.Leaf structure showed medium positive correlation with Furfural,?-Damascenone,Edulan,Neophytadiene and Duvatriencdiol.Thickness showed medium positive correlation with Furfural,Edulan and Duvatriencdiol.In the middle leaves,Leaf structure showed medium negative correlation with Solanone.Thickness showed medium positive correlation with Caproaldehyde,Phytone and Farnesylacetone,and it showed medium negative correlation with Furfural and Furfuryl alcohol.Oil and Chroma showed medium negative correlation with Furfuryl alcohol,and Chroma showed medium positive correlation with Phytone.Total points showed medium negative correlation with Furfuryl alcohol.7.Correlation was analyzed between principal neutral aroma components and ecological fators.In the upper leaves,average temperature in Aug.and Sep.had a moderate negative correlation with Edulan.Rainfall in Aug.and Sep.had a moderate negative correlation with Solavetivone.Sunshine hours in Aug.and Sep.had a moderate positive correlation with Indole and ?-Damascenone.Altitude had a moderate negative correlation with Safranal and Megastigmatrienone(C,D)and Solavetivone.In the middle leaves,average temperature in June had a moderate or high positive correlation with Caproaldehyde,Benzaldehyde,Phytone and Farnesylacetone,and it had a moderate negative correlation with Gum rosin.Rainfall in June had a moderate positive correlation with Furfural,Furfuryl alcohol,2-Acetylpyrrole,2,5-dihydroxytoluene and Gum rosin.Sunshine hours in June had a positive correlation with Farnesylacetone,and it had a moderate negative correlation with Furfural and Furfuryl alcohol.Average temperature in July had a moderate positive correlation with Caproaldehyde,Phytone and Farnesylacetone,and it had a moderate negative correlation with Gum rosin.Rainfall in July had a moderate negative correlation with Safranal and Megastigmatrienone(D).Average temperature in Aug.had a moderate or high positive correlation with Caproaldehyde,Benzaldehyde,Phytone and Farnesylacetone,and it had a moderate negative correlation with Gum rosin.Rainfall in Aug.had a moderate negative correlation with Safranal and Megastigmatrienone(D).Sunshine hours in Aug.had a moderate or high positive correlation with Safranal and Megastigmatrienone(D).Altitude had a moderate negative correlation with Farnesylacetone.
