Study On Playability Design Of Children Corrugated Cardboard Furniture

Corrugated cardboard furniture has become a common occurrence in foreign countries after nearly a century of development. But it is not mature in the domestic market. The paper summed up the problems of children corrugated cardboard furniture in the market. In order to solve the problems, the paper put forward the design idea of "it's furniture, and it's also a toy". Thus, the traditional value of children corrugated cardboard furniture was changed.Firstly, it proposed the concept of playability design by analyzing and contrasting features of children corrugated cardboard furniture with toys. It carried on the elaboration from three aspects of "can" "play" and "property". Secondly, it investigated the market demand for the playful children's corrugated cardboard furniture. Finally, it obtained elements, principles and methods of playability design by analyzing the shape, structure and function of children corrugated cardboard furniture. The design practice was carried out based on the theoretical research.The main results and conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1) Playability design combines children corrugated cardboard furniture with toys, and it follows the design idea of "it's furniture, and it's also a toy". Playability design of children corrugated cardboard furniture has three aspects of meaning: the attributes that furniture allows children to play together; the rules that must be followed in the play; enjoying the process and getting fun in the play. (2) Children's corrugated cardboard furniture can be designed from three aspects of shape, structure and function. The design methods of shape are as follows: innovation method of the geometric angle, simulation and bionic method, multiple combination method. The design methods of structure are as follows:paper packaging method, interlocking method, triangle structure method. The design methods of function are as follows:the function transplant method, the modular design method. (3) The author made 7 pieces of children corrugated cardboard furniture following the playability design concept. The production processes of children corrugated cardboard furniture are inputting CAD into the computer, determining position by infrared, cutting, impressing, folding, inserting, grinding and decorating etc.
