In China, there are many iron and steel enterprises which have some characteristics such as a large scale, lots of dust source points, and a large amount of smoke and dust emissions. Bag filter, as highly efficient equipment for removing particles, can significantly reduce the emissions of smoke and dust, and meet the emission requirements. Therefore, the proportion of its application in iron and steel industry has accounted for 95% or so. However, it was found that the information management system which refers to the technical parameters of bag filter was not standardized by the investigation. In addition, the technical parameters had not formed an effective information management system and the application effect was also not ideal. Consequently, it is necessary to establish an information management platform of bag filter to improve the efficiency of equipment management and site management personnel. Furthermore, according to the site investigation, it is also found that the application effect of the bag filter system is unsatisfactory. The bag filter in running performance is not better than beginning of design expectations, and the influence factor of the bag filter’s service life was closely related to the design of parameters. Through the analysis, it is considered that only right design of bag filter according to the different specific conditions and the reasonable parameters, can achieve high efficiency, low energy consumption, safe and stable operation effect.In this study, the required database of the information management system was established based on the Microsoft Access software, to achieve the storage and management of relevant technical parameters, operating parameters and design information. The client program was developed based on the Visual Basic 6.0language, to achieve the integration of relevant design information and data. At the same time, the data design, data storage, data call and other functions of the system by calling the practical control and database connection in VB were achieved. Besides,according to the technical parameters and operating parameters obtained from management site, the structural models of bag filter were established and their flow field information was simulated, which could get the airflow distribution diagram of the bag filter, and the images of simulation results were stored in the platform database file. The following results can be obtained:(1) Through a period of the site investigation, the users’ demand for themanagement platform was obtained, and then the system requirement analysis was completed. The results show that the information management platform of the bag filter in the iron and steel enterprises is established, and then the function of this platform can meet the daily needs of users by using the analysis system.(2) Based on the site investigation of the bag filter, it was found that the technical and operating parameters and other important data information of the iron and steel plant was backward, the storage of information was too traditional, and the important parameters of the information record was not comprehensive. Therefore, it was necessary to establish a total management information system which is an effective way to solve the development of information and improve the efficiency.(3) The information management platform of the bag filter had a function of data output for parameters, and the parameters can be exported to the specified location as an Excel format. It was convenient to retrieval, management and preservation. Besides, the management platform also provided the output for the scene pictures, CAD drawings, Solidworks graphics and simulation results. By using these features, it can provide a good platform for the operator to control the work of the site.(4) When bag filter has some problems in the production process, the personnel can view its internal airflow distribution by calling the simulation results firstly, and then compare the design parameters and the actual parameters in the database, finally the reasons was analyzed to provide theoretical guidance for the renovation of bag filter.(5) The information management platform of the bag filter consists of data operation platform and the backstage database, and this platform contains a simple and practical interface, it is convenient to operate and easy to use. It is unnecessary to have relevant professional knowledge for the personnel, and they just do some works,such as designing, checking, adding and deleting the data in the interface of the management platform. In addition, the personnel can set the login authority to ensure the integrity of the data. Furthermore, this platform is designed for the operator to check, consult and select parameters, in case of the blindness and one-sidedness in the design process of the bag filter.
