Baked Carbon Anode (named carbon anode, anode) is the key raw material for aluminium electrolysis. It is acknowledged to be the heart of aluminium electrolysis cell. The quality of baked carbon anode is very important to steady operation of aluminium electrolysis and improvement of various economic and technical indicators.The main developing trend of aluminium electrolysis technology is large, high efficiency and energy saving. The capacity of electrolysis cell goes up and the voltage goes down. The current distribution demand and carbon consumption index demand of anode will be increased accordingly. Therefore, the shape dimension and inner quality of baked carbon anode becomes the key indicator of achieving the above said goals. Traditional anode can not meet the demand of modern aluminium electrolysis industry, because of its small size, simple structure and poorer inner quality. Thence on the one hand anode manufactory should meet the challenge of the worse raw material market and raw material quality, on the other hand anode manufactory should produce large homogeneous baked carbon anodes. Only by this way can they meet the demand of development of large electrolysis cell.Based on the development of anode production technology in Jinan Aohai Carbon Products Co., Ltd, this article makes further research on the key indicators in the process of anode production, optimizes the technology of anode production, develops the facility of anode production, develops new production technology of large homogeneous baked carbon anodes and realizes the industrial test.This project uses different kinds of petroleum cokes purchased from different manufactories, mixes the cokes under instruction of the recipe, uses shaft calciner to calcine the cokes to get a real density above 2.08g/cm3, in order to ensure the impurity content and reactivity of calcined cokes are in good order and ensure the stability and homogeneity of the quality of large anodes.After research, we find using Blaine to control the purity of ball milled powder and controlling the Blaine of powder within 3500±150 can produce a good homogeneous green anode with apparent density above 1.66 g/cm3This project sets the final temperature of fire in baking furnace on 1180? and the final temperature of anode in baking furnace on 1100±30?, in order to realize the good quality and homogeneity of inner quality, whose property gets and above the requirement listed in Chinese standard YS/T 285-2012.The structure of traditional anodes is simple. Traditional anodes ask two or three stubholes. Its weight is below 950kg. Large homogeneous anodes developed by this project have four to six stubholes with a weight of 1000 to 1500kg. After the development, its electrical resistance is improved to 52??.m from 57??.m, compressive strength is improved to 42 MPa from 32 Mpa, air permeability is improved to 1.4nPm from 2.5nPm, the residue of CO2 reactivity is improved to 92.7% from 82.1%, the residue of air reactivity is improved to 94.6% from 79.5%. The large homogeneous anodes prodeced by this project can reach the world advance level on the shape and structure, inner quality and quality homogeity.
