With the rapid development of sensor technology and wireless communication technology in the world, wireless sensor networks has been widely used in military, medical and industrial fields. Because of its low cost, low power, ad hoc networks, distributed and other characteristics, the use of wireless sensor network for leakage monitoring of hazardous chemicals has become a hot topic. How to detect the concentration of harmful gases in the environment accurately and timely, and locate the source of the leak location has great significance to ensure the safety of people, and rush to repair. This is also where the research difficulties lied in.This article Considers the overhead structure of chlorine pipelines, and the steaming characteristics of liquid chlorine at normal temperature and pressure, designs a chlorine pipeline leak monitoring system based on wireless sensor network. In order to detect the leakage, monitoring system collecting and processing the Chlorine concentration, wind speed, wind direction and other information in the detect region.The system consists of a sink node, a plurality of sensor nodes and monitoring machine. It uses an enhanced 8051 microcontroller and TI's CC2530 RF chip, designs and completes the hardware circuit of sink node and sensor node, also designs a star network transmission protocol based on Z-stack protocol and the computer monitoring software. Finally, designs the apparatus of each node which has a portable, waterproof, easy layout and other features. In the monitoring region, each sensor node connect network automatically by star network topology and will send the concentration of chlorine and other information to the sink node, then the sink node transmits information to the monitoring PC by RS-232 transmission protocol. PC will complete the work of data processing, storage and determine whether the leak occurred or not.The system has been tested for a long time, the test results show that the system is capable, stable and reliable, and can meet the industrial field of chlorine safety monitoring requirements. Since the flexible deployment, good scalability and low-power design of the system, it can be widely used in leakage monitoring of hazardous chemicals in the environment.
