In recent years, the coal industry has been in the doldrums. In order to reduce the cost of the research and development and enhance the competitiveness of enterprises, introducing digital in the coal equipment manufacturing industry will become the future trend of development. Shearer is dominant in the coal mining machinery equipment. With more diverse of domestic shearer's model and complex structure, the designers need to design some physical prototypes to do the experiment in the design process.According to the test they can improve the design scheme. So there are many shortcomings like the low design efficiency, poor quality of design and long development cycles. These serious restricted the overall competitiveness of China's coal mining machine manufacturing. Digital design is an important trend in the development of manufacturing industry in the future. The designer applies digital design to the research and development of the shearer. These have been recognized by more and more various coal equipment manufacturing enterprises. At the same time, because many current machine equipment enterprises are using the LAN to work, so the digital design of shearer based on LAN has important practical significance.In the engineering background of shearer,this paper integrates the shearer design of existing resources. And this paper finishes the shearer digital design system based on LAN. The system uses ASP technology, ASP.NET technology and database technology, and it is in the B/S network architecture model. The system uses Dreamweaver, Visual Studio and SQL server as the software development tools and it uses HTML language and C# language and mixing C#language and MATLAB. This system integrated the conceptual design subsystem of the shearer, CAD parametric modeling subsystem, virtual assembly and movement demonstration subsystem, ANSYS parametric modeling subsystem, importing model subsystem, optimization design subsystem, reliability design subsystem, design service subsystem and other ancillary subsystems. This paper finally makes the whole digital design system to be accessed within the LAN through the IIS server technology. The designers of the shearer only need any computer in the LAN and they can access the page of the system by the browser. Then they can design the shearer by using some related functions.The article demonstrates the feasibility of the system development from the network technology, system hardware and software environment. And it expounds the key techniques in the digital design of shearer which involved in each subsystem. This paper mainly introduces the parametric analysis subsystem of torque axis which uses C # language and MATLAB programming and fault and treatment measures subsystem which uses database technology and ASPtechnology. Finally the article has carried on the strict test of the whole system and got good results and the system is practical application in the relevant enterprises.This paper finally completed the shearer digital design system based on LAN. It is based on the user as the center and it has complete functions and friendly interface. This system is convenient and easy to use and it can reduce or even avoid the use of physical prototype. In this way it can shorten the design cycle of the shearer,save the resources of the enterprise, reduce the design cost of the enterprise and improve the design efficiency of the enterprise. At the same time, this system integrates some of the key technology of digital design of shearer and users can obtain and use the technology conveniently within the LAN.
