With the continuous progress and development of automation technology, automation is used more frequently in industrial manufacturing field. In the traditional industrial production line,the problems of low efficiency,low energy utilization rate,decentralized management,unsmooth information interaction and untimely feeding are ubiquitous in the feeding process. Therefore,the implementation of an automatic feeding device which can solve the above problems is of positive significance.Heat treatment is a common process in metal processing industry,and automatic feeding system can meet the urgent need of material feeding. Based on this, this paper introduces the automatic feeding system which can realize the functions of automatic management of material conveying, file information sharing and intelligent dispatching decision-making.There is a complete set of process flow in heat treatment production. The main function of this system is the realization of material feeding process, data management, and interaction with the upper heat treatment process control system.According to the specific requirements of the production process, the automatic feeding system is divided into three sub systems:the material conveying system, the man-machine interface system and the remote server system. The main work is to design hardware and software in order to realize the functions each subsystem needs and another task is to realize the function of communication. The sub systems use different motheds in communication.PLC and man-machine interface communicate using serial communication.The man-machine interface gets information from RFID card reader through CAN bus,and interact with heat treatment process control system through the Ethernet.This paper introduces the overall design of the system in detail.The selection and design of hardware are described in detail,including the selection of position sensor, control components, driving motor, RFID communication equipment, weighing equipment.OMRON PLC is used in the basic control and KingView is used as design environment in man-machine interface.The man-machine interface realize the functions of operation monitoring, parameter setting, data display and storage, report generation and so on.The feeding system meet the requirements of the production process.The system has some innovations.Firstly,because the independent transport unit can store materials temporary,more materials can be uploaded at one time,thus avoiding frequent uploads.Secondly,Interaction with the upper monitor can enhance the system's ability of decision-. making.Finally,the using of frequency converter technology can save energy and reduce the cost of whole production.
