China’s economy has been developing rapidly since the reform and opening up.The constant construction of urban infrastructure and sustained progress of urbanization have resulted in a constant increase of construction waste in a short time.Promoting the development mode of circular economy has been universally considered as one of the most effective ways to relieve the environmental pressure and great resource shortage caused by the constant rise of construction waste.Meanwhile, attention has been widely paid to the construction waste reduction.Based on the source reduction and with designers as the research subject, the author has carried out researches on the behavior of construction waste reduction in the article by changing attitudes and behaviors of people. In the article, the influencing factors for the construction waste reduction of designers have been summarized based on the analysis and summary of relevant literatures.Preliminary research model has been established based on the Decomposed Theory of Planned Behavior. The preliminary research model has been improved in accordance with the results of expert interviews to reach a theory model, put forward a research hypothesis and design a questionnaire.A final behavioral model for the construction waste reduction of designers has been eventually achieved after clarifying the research hypothesis through the questionnaire survey and revising the theory model. In addition, the mechanism of action and influence weight of all factors influencing the behavior of construction waste reduction of designers have been analyzed.Targeted opinions and suggestions have first been proposed for the designers on the management of construction waste in accordance with empirical results.Research findings show that behavioral intention and perceived behavioral control for the construction waste reduction will directly affect the implementation of the reduction behavior of designers. In comparison, the perceived behavioral control has a greater influence than the behavioral intention does. The behavioral attitude and subjective norm for the construction waste reduction will affect the behavioral intention of designers. In comparison, the subjective norm has a greater influence than the behavioral attitude does.Meanwhile, the perceived behavioral control does not have a significant influence on the behavioral intention of designers.Perceived usefulness, compatibility, perceived ease of use and personal responsibility have significantly positive impacts on the behavioral attitude of construction waste reduction of designers which decrease sequentially.External influence and interpersonal influence have significantly positive impacts on the subjective norm of construction waste reduction of designers which decrease sequentially.Economic incentive.facilitating condition and self-efficiency have significantly positive impacts on the perceived behavioral control which decrease sequentially.
