In recent years,with the continuous development of the textile industry,the requirements of functional textiles become higher and higher.However,the flame retardant qualities of the most textile materials are weak,which caused many fire disasters,and the fire disasters made a serious impacts on people's lives and property safety.Aramid 1414 fibers is widely used in all kinds of textile flame retardant materials because of its excellent flame retardant properties and heat resistance.But aramid 1414 fibers is expensive,and have a series of problems in fiber production and process which greatly affect the promotion and application of aramid 1414 fibers to make it difficult to meet the market demands.If we blend aramid 1414 fibers with fibers which have high cost performance,good spinnability and wearability(such as cotton,viscose),it can not only reduce the production cost,improve the yarn spinnability,but also can improve the value of product if we adjust the mixing ratio of the fiber in the fabric according to the product requirements of flame retardant and heat resistant.In this paper,aramid 1414 fibers were blended with flame-retarded viscose rayon and cotton fibers respectively to develop fabric samples in different blending ratios.The properties of the fiber,the mechanical properties of the blended yarn,the mechanical properties,the wearability,the flame retardancy and the heat resistance of the blended fabrics were studied.The main research results were as follows:(1)The mechanical properties of both blended yarns and fabrics increased with the increase of aramid 1414 fiber content;The air permeability and the moisture permeability of the blended fabrics all increased firstly and then decreased with the increase of the fiber content;The fabric handtouch became poor as the aramid 1414 fiber content increased;According to the results of the comprehensive evaluation of fuzzy mathematics,it can be known that the aramid 1414/ flame retardant viscose fabric blended with60/40 has the best overall performance;(2)The LOI value of aramid 1414 fiber / flame retardant viscose blended fabric is high than 27,and it can reach the two level standard of fire retardant protective clothing without flame retardant.When the content of aramid 1414 fiber was 80%,the flame retardant property of the blended fabric was the best;The heat resistance of aramid 1414fiber/ flame retardant viscose blended fabric is enhanced with the increase of aramid 1414 fiber content;(3)After the flame-retardant finishing,the aramid 1414/ cotton blended fabric reached the flame retardant grade,and the flame retardant properties increased with the increase of the content of aramid 1414 fiber.The flame retardant of the blended fabrics keeps better after washing 30 times.The thermal degradation mechanism aramid 1414 fiber / cotton blended fabric was changed by the addition of flame retardant.And the addition of lame retardant inhibited the decomposition of fabric cotton fiber,promoted dehydration and carbonization of cotton fiber,increased the char yield,which resulted in better thermal stability.
