Because of the excellent thermal stability and chemical resistance, good mechanical propertiesand insulation properties, aramid spunlaced nonwovens are widely used in transformers, motors,electrical components, mechanical equipment, electrical protection, fire protection, high temper-ature gas filtration that needs insulation and high temperature areas and other electrical equip-ment. In order to improve the safety performance of electrical equipment, improving the flameretardant properties of insulating cloth is particularly important. In this study, inorganic flameretardants (Sb2O3,2ZnO3B2O33.5H2O) and organic flame retardants (DBDPE) are used tofinishing (immersion times is3min, drying temperature is250℃, drying time is3min) the ara-mid spunlaced nonwovens. And to test and analysis of the aramid spunlaced nonwovens’s flameretardant properties(LOI), thermal stability (TGA), mechanical properties (breaking strength),insulation properties (surface resistivity) and surface morphology (scanning electron micro-graph).The results showed that, in both the inorganic flame retardants, the flame retardant of Sb2O3isbetter than2ZnO3B2O33.5H2O. When use Sb2O3flame retardant finishing, the limit oxygenindex of the spunlaced nonwovens is up to37.1%, while2ZnO3B2O33.5H2O is used, the limitoxygen index is only31.8%. So2ZnO3B2O33.5H2O cannot replace Sb2O3to flame retardantfishing the aramid spunlaced nonwovens.When the ratio of DBDPE and Sb2O3is2︰1(the amount of mixed flame retardants is5g/100ml), the LOI of flame retardancy aramid spunlaced nonwovens is the highest, reaching37.4%; So the mixed flame retardants’s flame retardant properties is better than other flame re-tardant in this study that limiting oxygen index can be reached38.2%.In summary, it’s more reasonable to use mixed flame retardants(DBDPE and Sb2O3) to flameretardant finish the aramid spunlaced nonwovens which using the ratio of2︰1and flame retar-dant amount of5g/100ml.
