Heating furnace is a very important equipment in the process of iron and steel's production. Our country owns a large consumption of iron and steel. Calculation and prediction for the temperature field of billet are of great significance, which is beneficial to the control in the furnace. The billet's temperature and gas' s temperature affect each other in the furnace, and the study of billet and gas are complementary to each other. The research of billet's temperature field mainly focused on analogue simulation, numerical calculation and optimal control. The calculation methods of billet's temperature field include: temperature distribution model based on traditional heat transfer mechanism, multivariate statistical model based on the principle of regression, prediction model based on state estimation and identification, prediction model based on neural network of artificial intelligence.In this paper, the NO.4 heating furnace of Hot-Rolled Steel Company of Wuhan Iron and Steel Group is chosen as the object of study. Technological process in the furnace and heat transfer process of billet are analyzed, and calculation and simulation based on numerical heat transfer is carried out in the paper. Deep research for coupling problem of three dimensional unsteady heat conduction and radiation progress is done. Full implicit scheme and alternating direction implicit method are adopted to make control equations discrete. The additional source term method is adopted to deal with boundary conditions. Then C++ is used to obtain the calculation program of billet's temperature field. After running the program,the temperature distribution and trend chart of temperature-time are obtained. The results show that calculating program obtained in this paper is basically accurate. Although the calculating program is not mature enough, the calculation result possesses reliability to some extent,which could be the guidance for the control of billet's temperature field.
