Abandoned open pits are the deserted areas when the coal exploitation activities end.Large quantities of land are destroyed by excavation,and some are accompanied by geological risks.Therefore,rehabilitation and re-utilization of abandoned open pits are the necessity in the population-land-economy seriously contradicted background and are important contents to implement green-development,circular development ideas,and are sustainable ecologic,social and economic development.The paper selected abandoned open pits as research subjects,aiming at achieving reuse of abandoned open pits,and selected “pattern analysis,pattern selection,empirical study” as the main line,and used methodologies such as literature review,fieldwork,summary induction,contrast analysis,empirical study and put forward the re-utilization patterns of abandoned open pits and how to select the proper pattern,the main content and conclusions are as follows:(1)The existed case studies of reuse of abandoned open pits were summarized and the reuse patterns were divided into agricultural production pattern,ecologic conservation pattern,tourism entertainment pattern,science education pattern,social service pattern,and qualitative and contrast analysis of the benefits of each pattern were made.(2)The paper constructed the system of selecting the proper method to reuse the abandoned open pits from perspectives of constraints.The paper extracted 17 restrictive conditions including condition of open pits,natural conditions,other conditions,and formed 57 inference conditions combining with the reuse pattern,and constructed the inference rules according to principles such as “permanent first”,“strong first”,and filtered 2 to 3 reuse patterns initially.(3)Pingshuo mining area was selected to conduct the empirical study.First,the locations and scales of abandoned open pits of Antaibao opencast mine,Anjialing opencast mine and Donglutian opencast mine were predicted.Then according to inference conditions and rules,the abandoned open pits in the area can be used as ecologic conservation demonstration area,Pingshuo Open Pit Hotel and refuse landfill,and their primary benefits are ecologic benefits,economic benefits and social benefits respectively.(4)Quantitative analysis on benefits of reuse pattern was conducted.The rehabilitation costs of transferring mining pits of Antaibao opencast mine,Anjialing opencast mine and Donglutian opencast mine into ecologic conservation demonstration bases are about fifty million RMB,60.53 million RMB,39.48 million RMB,and the annual values of ecological services produced are about 2.9502 million yuan,3.5713 million yuan,2.3291 million yuan,and the exchanged annual turnover of CO2 were about 1.1858 million yuan,1.4354 million yuan,93.61 thousand yuan;The saving-land benefits of transferring them into refuse landfills are about 665 million yuan,805 million yuan,525 million yuan,and backfill benefits are about 9.585 billion yuan,10.731 billion yuan and 7.676 billion yuan;the cost of transferring them into hotels were about 6 hundred million to one thousand million yuan,and the annual expenditure was more than one hundred million yuan.
