At present, the issue of global warming caused by carbon emission is getting more and more serious.Nature disaster is becoming more frequent.Carbon emission was once just an environment issue, while it now has become a social, economic and political issue concerning world's benefits.Since the reform and opening-up policy was raised up,China created great economic growth during more than 30 years with high growing speed. At the same, carbon emission was also growing at a high speed, which brings us great pressure on carbon emission reduction from international community. To control carbon emission and make it collaborative with economic growth has great theorical value and political meaning.Based on such condition, this paper uses environment Kuznets curve as theorical base to analyze the relationship between carbon emission and economic growth. This paper sets up a panel data which lasts more than 10 years and covers more than 200 prefecture-level cities, uses panel regression and spatial panel regression to do empirical study.Such research can help to introduce carbon emission control policy and bring theorical base for China to commit reasonable responsibility in international negotiation. The conclusion can be listed as following:(1)Environment Kuznets curve(EKC)just reveals the relationship between environment and economic growth in developed countries. As to development countries,we need to relate theory with reality to specifically analyze the shape of EKC.(2)The carbon emission of China increases with economic growth. There is positive linear relationship between the two. This means the development model "treatment after environment pollution" in developed countries do not exist in China.it's necessary to control economic growth maintain a suitable speed to control carbon emission.(3)Carbon emission is not balanced distributed in space.Spatial autocorrelation also exists in carbon emission.Cities in North China as well as municipalities and provincial capitals have high carbon emission. As a whole, the carbon emission of north area is higher than that of south area. There is positive spatial autocorrelation in carbon emission and such trend is becoming stronger. This paper's main innovation points are:Estimate the carbon emission of prefecture-level cities to expand panel data, making empirical study more accurate. In the process of calculating carbon emission, this paper also calculates the carbon emission induced by clinker production more than just concern about carbon emission produced by fossil burning. What's more, this paper uses spatial econometrics to analyze the shape of EKC.Of course, this paper has disadvantages. For instance, the theory of spatial econometrics is still developing. There's still no consistent model select standard. The explanation about empirical results still needs to be improved.
