Global warming caused by the increased greenhouse gas emissions has become a great challenge for all people around the world. The energy consumption in industrial process is an important source of greenhouse gas emissions, and the carbon dioxide emissions from China's industrial sector account for more than 75% of total carbon dioxide emissions.Dalian has a solid foundation in industry, and its industry grows at a very high speed. Therefore,to account the carbon emissions from the energy consumption of industrial enterprises in Dalian and explore the driving forces can guide the making of emission reduction policies. After calculating and analyzing the carbon emissions for industrial energy consumption in Dalian during 2007 to 2014,the LMDI and STIRPAT models are built to decompose the influencing factors on carbon emissions from the perspectives of energy structure, energy intensity, industrial structure and output scale. And similarly, the LMDI and STIRPAT models are also built to decompose the influencing factors on heavy-industrial carbon emissions from the perspectives of energy structure, energy intensity and output scale. The result shows:(1)From 2007 to 2014,carbon emissions for industrial energy consumption in Dalian grow with an annual average of 5.32%,from 48.83 million tons to 70.19 million tons, while the energy intensity declines by an average of 8.24%,from 40.51 tons standard coal/million yuan to 22.18 tons standard coal/million yuan, which suggests the energy efficiency of the industrial sector of Dalian has been improved. The carbon emissions from light industry do not significantly rise, while those from heavy industry generally keep increasing. But the energy intensities of these two sub-sectors both show declines.(2)The result from LMDI model suggests that output scale effect is a major contributor for the growth of the carbon emissions for industrial energy consumption in Dalian, while energy intensity effect is the principal inhibitor. The growth in output scale make the carbon emissions increase by 5592.36 tons, and the decline in energy intensity causes the carbon emissions decline by 3666.91 tons.Energy structure and industrial structure influence relatively weakly on the energy-related emissions, which indicates that the emission reduction potentials from these two perspectives are still not achieved. And output scale effect and energy intensity effect are major influencing factors for the carbon emissions from heavy industry.(3)Similar with the result from LMDI,the result from STIRPAT model shows that output scale is a major contributor for the growth of the carbon emissions for industrial energy consumption in Dalian, while energy intensity is the principal inhibitor. The influences of energy structure(the decreased using of coal)and industrial structure(the increased portion of heavy industry in industry)are also observed in this model.Similarly, output scale effect and energy intensity effect are major influencing factors for the carbon emissions from heavy industry, and energy structure also shows an influence.
