As a kind of high modulus and strength fiber,UHMWPE fiber has been widely used in the field of safety protection,transportation,medical equipment etc,and most of these products are based on the fiber.The application on household textiles is very few.It is meaningful for UHMWPE fiber to use in the field of household textiles because of its high strength,high wear resistance,cool feeling and stable performance.However,the pure UHMWPE fiber is not suitable for direct use due to its high strength,poor water absorption,dyeing performance and so on.And,it's feasible and meaningful to blend UHMWPE fiber with a kind of soft feeling,high water absorption fiber.This research studies on the technology and performance to design and develop a new kind of bed fabrics with viscose/UHMWPE yarn.This research firstly discusses properties of puer UHMWPE yarns and viscose/UHMWPE yarns and then carries orthogonal test to optimize sizing technology of viscose/UHMWPE yarns.Next,this research focuses on performance and style of the fabrics whitch are made up with the viscose/UHMWPE yarns according to structure and specification of bed fabric.The conclusions are as follows:1.The pure UHMWPE yarns surface active groups increases and hygroscopicity is improved with oxygen plasma.Compared with pure yarns,the mechanical property of viscose/UHMWPE yarns decreases and the hygroscopicity is obviously improved.Moreover,the content of viscose is greater,the moisture regain is greater and the hygroscopicity will be better.2.There are some differences in the optimal sizing process between viscose/UHMWPE yarns with different blending ratio.In terms of drying temperature,the higher the content of UHMWPE,the higher the drying temperature is.3.When the yarn materials and fabric texture are different,the fabric under machine shrinkage,the rate of change in size and weight of fabrics after scouring process are different.The content of viscose in blended yarn is greater,the fabric under machine shrinkage is larger and the rate of change in size is larger,the rate of change in size is smaller after scouring process.The under machine shrinkage of plain fabric is larger than twill and satin fabrics.4.The wearing characteristics and handle style of viscose/UHMWPE yarn fabrics are similar to pure cotton fabrics.Moreover,it is superior to cotton fabric in drape,air and moisture permeability,cool feeling,bending and shearing properties.Overall,when the blended ratio of viscose and UHMWPE is 50 to 50,the fabric wearing characteristics and handle style are very well,whitch can be applied in bed fabric in spring and summer with further processing.
