Research Of The Single Apartment Furniture Design Based On Modularization

With the development of the society,numerous youth choose to live in the cities.Along with the rapidly growing younger population in the urban area,a new type of small family homes--Single apartment-has emerged.Targeting furniture demand derived by this new housing type,this paper innovatively bring modular theory into the design of Single Apartment furniture,and thoroughly conduct a market research to better understand the demand of residential community and investigate the theory of Single Apartment furniture modular design,with a goal to improve housing environment for the youth.Focusing on the interior spatial characteristics of single apartments and unique furniture demand of the youth,this research comprehensively studies the theory of Single Apartment furniture modular design.This paper mainly includes the following parts:1.We investigate related literature and analyze concept of Single Apartment and Modular design.2.We collect first-hand information about Single Apartment user group by online questioners and field studies,analyze their psychological characteristics,life style,behavior patterns and furniture demand,and summarize existing problems with Single Apartment and direction for future improvement.3.Following the Modular design theory,we conduct field studies in IKEA,particularly on its modular-based design and specific products.In light of the modular design in IKEA and other existing cases on combination and the connection of modules,we try to summarize the principles of Single Apartment furniture modular design in the choice of form,color and materials.4.We choose one particular functional space as the object of this research design,analyze the demand of youth,and design this space based on the theory of Single Apartment modular design.Specifically,we come up with several combination designs for a user-specific apartment type and user's specific requirements,choose the best choice,experiment it with combination-form drawing,three view drawing and scene drawing for different functions,and finish the modular design for the chosen functional space.We try to provide a better personal space with emotional attachment for the youth in the cities with our modular design for the Single Apartment.We hope our results could provide some value for future research on this front.
