Research On The Braided Multi-layer Fabrics Andlaminate Fabrics Preparation With Stepped Wicking Properties

The way of fabrics development are determined by the fabric’s comfort properties. Oriented moisture transfer fabrics are one of functional fabrics which can make people feel comfortable under the sweating condition. Based on the single layer structure, online knitted multi-layer fabrics and laminate fabrics with stepped wicking properties were researched in this paper.The padding manger with water repellent agent and oven were put in the middle of creel. Yarn was finished with water repellent through the padding mange and oven. Then, the yarn was knitted in the circular knitting machines. The fabrics with water repellent were produced by the circular knitting machines. Through the fabrics’ comfortable properties and wicking properties were tested. The optimization hydrophilic finishing process was found. Top gallant hydrophilic finishing process indicated that the bath ratio is 1:20 with hydrophilic concentration 25g/l, then, the heat setting temperature is 170 and dealing with 3min.℃The laminate fabrics with stepped wicking properties were designed by the optimum technology parameters. The fabrics one-way wet permeability were tested by MMT instrument. The fabrics’ accumulative one-way transport capacity and overall moisture management capability were shown in the five grades, which proved the fabrics have a great one-way wet permeability. The result indicated that each layer of the laminate fabric must cooperate with hydrophilic and water repellency. There are three tips to get the laminate fabrics with stepped wicking properties. First, the inner side fabric with contact angle is 90°—130°. Second, the out layer of laminate fabrics with wicking height is 10 cm. Third, the optimum thickness of laminate fabric is 2mm-3mm.The laminate fabrics’ thermal and moisture comfortable properties were tested in dry and wet condition. The result showed that fabric thickness,finishing and materials are determined the laminate fabrics’ comfortable ability. The main factor is fabric thickness, then raw material. Also, the lesser factor is finishing. The back layer and front layer of laminate fabrics’ have different thermal resistant. The moisture resistant shows the same trend.
