In order to study the configuration, design methods, and design more human-basedearthquake emergency shelter facilities, based on the in-depth analysis of physiologyand psychological needs with the affected population, this article focused on urbanpublic emergency shelter in emergency shelter facilities and the specific configurationof product design research, did some supplementary amendments by GB21734-2008?designed Emergency shelter facilities which have shock combined with flat, easy to use, safe and reliable features, proposed innovative ideas and methods on emergency shelterfacility configuration and design.Firstly, this article makes a comparison of emergency shelter facilityconfiguration and design between China and Japan, and a deep analysis of thepost-earthquake physiological and psychological needs of the affected populations. Then, this article focuses on post-earthquake physiological and psychological needs ofthe affected populations, make studies on emergency evacuation facility configuration,do some supplementary amendments by GB21734-2008, and come to the emergencyshelter facility configuration program with the demand of the affected population. Finally, this paper introduces the concept of emotional design in specific emergencyshelter facility design, come to the emotional design principles and design elements ofemergency shelter facilities, designed the emergency shelter facilities with thepsychological needs of the affected population, then conduct an application of the abovedesign methods through emergency toilet design. Currently, quick escape after the earthquake is extremely important, for earthquakeprediction is still not perfect. However, after the earthquake, people have to bear thephysical harm and mental pressure, so deep study in physical and psychological needsof the affected population in earthquake is of great importance. We should design thehuman-centered emergency shelter facilities which can meet the basic physiologicalneeds of the affected population and mitigate its well-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD),which is the significance of this article.
