Using low content cement stabilized base (or sub-base) to prevent the shrinkagecrack is attributed to the low cement dose, while it has more advantages of strengththan graded gravel. Thus, it is important to use low content cement stabilized base inthe asphalt pavement construction to prolong its service life. In this paper, the designmethod and construction technology that suitable for our national situation have beendiscussed in detail through experiments, mechanical calculations and paving test road,on the basis of investigating and analyzing a number of projects at home and abroad.This paper firstly analyzed the reasons for cracking of the cement stabilized base,investigated the temperature contraction property of low content cement stabilizedbase andtested its mechanical property, providing a reference for the design ofmixture.According to the investigationsof asphalt pavement structures and analysis onthe use of low content cement stabilized base in expressway and arterial highway,pavement structures, cement dose and quality control indices were then presentedthrough mechanical calculation. Through project, the results of unconfinedcompression strength test, coring and deflection showed that the performance of lowcontent cement stabilized base has a bright future of application and popularizing.
