Metro can alleviate traffic congestion within the city, so at present major citiesare devoting great effort to metro construction. No.2Xi'an Metro Line is the first onethat is put into operation in Northwest China. During two and a half years' operation,energy consumption of environmental control system is very high and environmentalparameters of metro tunnel have not yet been monitored. To optimize operation andconstruction of Xi'an Metro in the future, distribution of temperature, velocity andpressure fields in the tunnel for a whole day and a whole month in summer, as a trainruns through, have been totally analyzed on the basis of field measurement in arunning tunnel as well as in a platform tunnel of No.2Xi'an Metro. Therefore?this canoffer reliable reference data for construction and operation of Xi'an's fourteen metrolines.Metro's operation will cause a huge energy consumption problem. The electricenergy consumption of environmental control system accounts for45%--60%ofmetro's total power. In this paper, Weiyijie Station of No.2Xi'an Metro Line regardedas a platform, a full-scale CFD simulation model was established. With Dynamic MeshTechnique applied, temperature and airflow in the tunnel were simulated in these fourcases-Fan turn-on and turn-off during the initial(the tunnel wall temperature:20°C)and long-term operational periods(the tunnel wall temperature:34°C). Distribution andchanges of temperature, airflow in the tunnel under the four conditions were alsocompared and analyzed. Not only has temperature distribution in the tunnel beenacquired when fans of Single Shaft Platform Screen Door System were in differentstates, but the feasibility of turning off fans during the initial operational period has been proved. Moreover, it is essential for the design of environmental control systemas well as for the state of fan during the initial operational period.
