Industry is an important technical innovation in human history, which contributes to the rapid development of human society and the progress of human civilization. Moreover, industry is also the crucial witness of the continuation of a country's historical essence. However, with the on-going depletion of various natural resources and the gradual transformation of industry characteristics, the "industry" that once changed mankind's mode of production now is vanishing from people's vision and memory, then contaminated displaced plants and industrial lands instead entering people's life. How to rationally make the best use of these industrial sites with lost values, how to change the shabby ecological environment and how to reorganize the dilapidated industrial sites to bring industrial economic benefits, these are important topics for the harmonious development of cities. The research on better protection and reusable design is carried out by taking the reconstruction project of Haizhou National Mine Park in Fuxin city of Liaoning province as an example. The author firstly presents the industrial sites background and the purpose as well as the significance of this research by explaining the concept of industrial sites. The required research contents and the rational research methods are then determined according to the actual situation of the Mine Park's reconstruction projects. Besides, the five reconstruction targets proposed, including the continuation of the historical memory of the city after reconstruction, the use of "ecological aesthetics" between the old and the new, the conversion of spatial functions, the development of industrial economy and people-oriented design goals are the most innovative arguments in this paper.Secondly, the author describes the theories related to industrial sites protection and reusable design. Above all, the concept of industrial sites is clearly defined into two levels, that is, industrial heritage and brownfield sites. Industrial heritages mostly belong to the level of historical and cultural resources, while brownfield sites are at the level of national land resources. Meanwhile, this paper also discusses the basic assessment principles for the value, degree, collectiveness and completeness of industrial sites reuse, as well as relative design theories and maintenance items that need to be considered during the reconstruction design. Then, through literature surveys together with the actual development examples in Ruhr of Germany, the whole reconstruction process, the specific stages of the development and several comparatively successful development modes that Germany has experienced during the period of industrial protection and design are studied. Moreover, the successful experience and specific design achievements of Volklingen Ironworks, Zollverein Coal Mine and North Duisburg Ironworks Landscape Park are introduced, whose enlightenment and educational significance to the locals are also summed up. Afterwards, the most reasonable design means and reconstruction techniques adopted by Ruhr of Germany for its reconstruction design are summarized, and finally the results based on the entire paragraph are concluded and compared through tabulation.Last but not least, the field research is conducted in Haizhou National Open-pit Mine Park in Fuxin city. Firstly, the relative history and current situation of Fuxin city and Haizhou Open-pit Mine Park are introduced, and then the coal washery site complex built in 1931 within the park of the two-stage reconstruction programs is chosen as the reconstruction design objective. Afterwards, the design principles and specific reconstruction goals are clarified. According to the five targets of reconstruction mentioned above, including the continuation of the historical memory of the city after reconstruction, the use of "ecological aesthetics" between the old and the new, the conversion of spatial functions, the development of industrial economy and people-oriented design goals, a virtual reconstruction design is conducted and the overall program and reconstruction strategies arde also figured out. Finally, this paper is concluded in the form of tables, and projects designed to collect feedback are proposed by the author. The protection of industrial sites and reusable design in urban construction can not only recover the degraded ecosystems of industrial sites to some extent, but also enhance the city's image. Meanwhile, this particular content and form not only protect industrially cultural and traditional values, but also extend the memories of the city.
