With the development of big data and cloud computing, all kinds of innovative products in virtual services have yet to emerge, and they are emerging in an endless stream. They meet the multiple requirements from users, however, become further away from their daily life because of high technicality. Nowadays, enterprises are facing with the problem about how to communicate the new product-concepts to users effectively. In present design circle, concept visual design is the key segment to concept communication and product precognition. However, due to its high technicality and crude concept, it is difficult to visualize and meet the users' psychological cognition efficiently. Therefore, to explore the concept cognition of cloud computing products and graphic design method is an important topic in methods and applied research.In this study, we get to know about users' comprehension about cloud computing products through questionnaire, and to participate in enterprise's practical design projects for interpretation of products and design process from the perspective of designer. Gathering the comprehension of both sides, we probe into the diversity of virtual products cognition and expression between user and designer by participatory design method. Meanwhile, we seek for collaborative design methods and propose a Participate-Analyze-Design model to assist designer to complete the expression of cloud computing products. The PAD model is applied in Aliyun Server Load Balancer project, which demonstrate it an effective graphical design and research methods.The innovations of this study basically has four aspects as following:Firstly, graphic expression in cloud computing is a fresh topic. But researches in this area are quite limited, which make this study valuable in theory and practice.Secondly, to regard participatory design as experiment is one of innovations, how we explore the difference between concept cognition and graphic expression and its collaborative design mode.Thirdly, after data analysis, we pinpoint the similarities and differences about concept cognition and graphic expression between users and designers, figure out that users are inclined to associate the generalities of the concrete, while designers tend to diverge thinking for the abstract. Both of them will come to complementary in concept expression, which is valuable for virtual products' graphic design.Fourthly, we propose a participatory-design-centric method called PAD, which include analysis combined affinity diagramming with cognitive mapping and graphic concept visualization. The PAD can facilitate group communication efficiently and conform to users' concept recognition mode. At the same time it offer a worthwhile method for cloud computing products' concept visual design.The study based on my experience in enterprise, containing questionnaire and experimental research methods, analysis of the problems in cloud computing products of graphic design, comparison of differences about concept cognition and graphic expression between users and designers, conclusion about a participatory design-ce ntric graphic visualization method called PAD. It has significant value for theory research and practice in designing.
