| Since the Engineering Design Education shift from " Science Paradigm" to "Engineering Paradigm", Design Education becomes the theme of the Engineering Education Revolution in 21 st century. Innovation is the vitality of engineering, design is the core of engineering, innovative design is the engineers’ essential thinking mode and ability, design of the innovation core is the key content of the modern engineering and the essential ability of engineers. Therefore, in order to cultivate the future engineers, it is necessary to study engineering design education.Using the literature research and case study,This paper try to analyse the personnel training mode of Imperial College London, based on the Personnel training mode theory, the Adaptive design theory and the Multiple intelligence theory. Through the analysis of the five dimensions of education objectives, curriculum, teaching methods, evaluation system and environment, we can find the following three prominent characteristics:Firstly, design as the basic ability of the engineering students should be strengthened;Secondly, the introduction of art education in engineering education can stimulate the innovation, the core of the design. Thirdly, the project-based learning should be the main way of training comprehensive ability.Learning from the personnel training mode of Imperial College London, our country should establish the specific training target to train innovative engineering talents firstly, improve the recognition of the importance of innovation design ability, build the education concept of "the concept of sustainable engineering". Secondly, the curriculum reform should build up the curriculum system which its primary mission is to promote students’ innovative design ability and add the Arts and Business to the engineering education. The third is the integration of teaching methods, strengthening the Project experience teaching which is based on the whole process of product realization, the introduction of art design thinking training method, encouraging interdisciplinary team cooperation and the cooperation with other colleges and enterprises. |
