Space is a word that has much thing to do with our daily life and production,on which people has never stopped thinking and exploration. Both in the field of philosophy and architectural design, people all have their own views and opinions to space. This process has lots of historical meanings with the reason that the space changing itself or the people's perception is the reflection of social relations and technology to some extent.Space design and perceptions in the architecture filed which are based on the Newton's classical mechanics and the Cartesian coordinate system has become faster developed since the modern architecture movement. At the beginning of the movement, the horizontal dimension of space has been largely liberated and the manners which can make the horizontal space continuous are not in the minority, while the vertical dimension are significant imbalanced. And just for this point, this paper chooses manners on the vertical dimension architecture space as the subjects. This paper starts from the history of space perception, and clearly figures out the space ontology and space perception, later in the research, divides the space itself into two aspects:the space interface and the sapce combination mode, which correspond to the chaper 3 and chaper 4.Chapter 5 is the research on the space perception. In the part of design manners analysis, typical cases are followed according to the corresponding manners, and with the method of graphic analysis, this paper tries to dig out the design thinking a little deeper. In the end, this paper brings the design status quo and the problems that lie in contemperary design into consideration, and make some prospects for future design.
