With the rapid expansion of urbanization and the growth of demand for educational resources in China,the conflict between tight land resources and insufficient school places is becoming more and more prominent.How to build a high volume ratio,high density,and high quality campus under the high density urban environment,scarce land conditions,and strict regulatory constraints is the challenge that needs to be faced in the current elementary school construction.Intensive design is an essential link to cope with the high-density urban environment,and the vertical dimensional space design is the core of the realization of intensive design.Based on the research at home and abroad on the basis of relevant theories and cases,combined with field investigation,in view of the represented by Wuhan Jianghan district elementary school campus design problem,such as lack of function configuration,lack of activity space,space,quality is not high,the problem such as vertical consciousness weak,in the final analysis for low density design strategy under the environment of high density is not adaptability,The importance of vertical dimensional space design is emphasized.Through literature reading,field research,case study and other methods,this paper summarizes the factors that influence the vertical dimensional space design,and puts forward the design principles of frugality,compactness,systematicness,diversity and humanization.This paper mainly summarizes the vertical dimensional space design strategy from four aspects: the three-dimensional building base plane based on the zoning,the compound functional organization based on the compactness,the vertical activity site based on the integrity,and the diversified form space based on the richness.Finally,the above strategies are comprehensively applied in the design practice of Binhe Central Primary School in Tanghe County,aiming at tapping the vertical dimension space potential of the campus under the restriction of land.This paper provides design ideas for exploring intensive campuses in high-density environments,and vertical dimensional space design can be one of the meaningful attempts to provide some reference,especially at the current peak of campus construction.
