It's a pervasive problem that bidirectional DC/DC converter(BDC) has a low efficiency when it works in light load, and this paper research on the problem. Based on 4-phase bidirectional DC/DC converter, integrate 4 separated inductors to 2 reverse coupled inductors to reduce switch tube and inductance's current amplitude and ripple for decreasing active and passive elements, eliminate part of hots pot. Analysis switch tube loss and coupled inductor loss, and efficiency formula is given. Come up with a control strategy of the number of active phases, which aims at raising light load efficiency, realizing high efficiency in all load conditions, by reducing phases based on load the load reduction ratio to remove all loss of unworking phases. The correctness of interleaving magnetic integration(BDC) loss and efficiency formula, the effectiveness of phase control method are verified by simulation and experimental results.
