Maritime transport as an important part of the global logistics transportation, the vast majority of goods are transported by ship. Maritime transport is widely used to the world with its low shipping costs, large transportation capacity, efficient loading and unloading, passing ability and many other advantages. But the traditional ship has a problem, it brings the serious marine environment issues due to the large amounts of ballast water, must arouse people's attention.The use and emissions of ballast water, resulting in marine pollution, caused by the invasion of alien species and other issues, and listed as one of the four major hazards of the sea by global environmental protection fund. With the emphasis on <2004 International Convention for the Control and Management of Ship's Ballast Water and Sediment >, and the importance of the protection of the marine environment, the ship's ballast water-processing system has gradually been recognized and accepted by the ship owners. However these devices can not completely eliminate the problems caused by ballast water, while when the traditional ship light load will carrying a large amount of ballast water, energy consumption is bound to increase, and the ballast tank will also result in the loss of valuable cargo space. In order to solve problems caused by ballast water, people hope to design a ship which only needs a small amount of ballast water to meet the requirements of navigation.For the use of ballast water brought many problems, first of all, this paper combined with the latest V ship low-ballast water boat design concept, use 45000 DWT bulk carrier vessels as the parent ship, through a series of line transformed let the parent ship changed into V-type low-ballast water vessels, and meet three-dimensional fairing. Secondly, research the general arrangement of new ship, including the division of compartments, structural design. Finally, through calculation to analysis the performance between low-ballast water ship and the mother, including floating state calculation, stability, seakeeping performance, motion response to determine the performance of new bulk carrier ship's advantages and disadvantages.Through the design and calculation in this article, eventually come up with a preliminary design of low-ballast water bulk carriers and research the feasibility of the low-ballast water ship design. By comparison with the parent ship, measure the performance of new ship, given some useful conclusions and what is still need to be improved. It is believed that the Study of low-ballast water bulk carriers has certain reference value for the future design of the same and the other types of operation vessels.
