Building Information Modeling(BIM)was designed to cover the whole life cycle of structures,including conceptual design,model rendering,construction cost design,virtual construction simulation,structure collision check,risk assessment,sustainable design analysis and so on.The BIM structural geometrical models are the precondition for the ultilization of BIM technology.Therefore,the paper applied the BIM technology into the analysis of bridge engineering,in which three aspects of work have been carried out:(1)The development and basic theories of the BIM technology were summarized,and the differences between the bridges designed by conventional design methods and by BIM were compared.(2)Based on Revit in a generic model adaptive environment,focusing on the structures that are frequently used in bridge enginnering such as T-shaped beams,box beams and variable section beams in bridge superstructures and also gravity piers,hollow piers and column piers with bent caps in bridge substructure,the research on the the parameterized model of those structures was carried out by categorizing those structures into beam or pillar structures.(3)Based on the existing BIM bridge design process,the BIM modelling frame was set up based on Revit in the bridge design state.By taking the parameterized models that have already built as the standard component family,a fabricated modelling was conducted on the above mentioned frame to establish the BIM structural geometrical model of Sujiahao Bridge,a multi-span RC arch bridge.
