Study On Protection& Reuse Of Industrial Heritage In “Brownfields” Updating Process

The concept of protection& reuse of industrial heritage was first put forward by British industrial archaeologists at the end of the 19 th century, its emphasis on respect for the process of industrial civilization, the protection of old industrial building sites. Later in Europe and the United States planners, architects, and archaeologists first developed “brownfields” concept, and put forward the upgrading reuse of old industrial area to activate the old city area. Industrial heritage protection and reuse in our country, the most is the reuse of industrial buildings, mainly based on "free space reuse" as the goal, or the whole demolition and reconstruction, to a certain extent from the original meaning of the industrial heritage itself.The purpose of the research is in order to better adapt to the trend of large-scale urban renewal and construction in Tianjin Binhai New Area, from the Angle of urban renewal, review the historical significance of industrial heritage buildings, structures and large factory, try to look for ways to update a positive intervention for the organic combination of protection and reuse, in its traditional appearance into the new features, making it a continuation of the history of Tianjin Binhai New Area, to highlight the industrial history context and the advanced culture.In this paper, by collecting relevant theory and examples about “brownfields” and the improvement of industrial heritage literature,, summarizes the related basic theory, combining with the achievements about industrial heritage protection in Tianjin Binhai New Area, strives to put forward the suitable method and technology system of upgrading industrial heritage in Tianjin. Secondly, through a tour of the actual case and comparison, summarizes the successful experience of innovation and management about “brownfields” in the world. Finally, takes typical specific problems on the industrial heritage in Tianjin Binhai New Area in the practice of deep thinking, and research on developing an effective method of the “brownfields” reuse. The main content is divided into five parts. First, interpreting the concept of “brownfields” and the connotation of the update. Second, discussing the connotation and characteristics of industrial heritage and its reuse, from five aspects to promote the goal of industrial heritage reuse, such as the economic development, environment sustainable development, comfortable life, social development, history protection and cultural development. Third, analysing the brownfields development mode, according to the location, architecture and landscape; Fourth, through analysis and evaluation for the Binhai New Area status of typical industrial heritage, exploring its protective reuse model. Fifth, trying to find the implementation method about industrial heritage protective reuse in Tianjin Binhai New Area, putting forward suggestions about management in the process of upgrading “brownfields”,such as raising awareness, renewing the idea, the government leading, law guarantee, social participation, and so on.
