In order to constantly improve the comprehensive benefits of the construction of the high earth-rock dam project, project management is becoming mainstream which based on the concept of lifecycle. With the rapid development of IT level, it is played a more and more important role in the project management based on building information modeling technology. Thus, this paper presents lifecycle management method based on Hydro-BIM which aimed to high earth-rock dam project. This method abandoned the traditional drawback of splitting of engineering phase(planning stage, survey and design phase, construction stage, operational phase and decommissioning phases) and engineering problem(quantities, construction progress, finance, contracts, etc.). It pays attention to global management of high earth-rock dam project and improve construction quality levels and management level, which will also be an important direction of high earth-rock dam project development in the future.General method and implementation of lifecycle information management of high earth-rock dam project based on Hydro-BIM were discussed in this paper, part of the achievement were visualized based on secondary development of Skyline software. There were three main parts achievement got in this paper as the following:(1) The status of the management and demand of lifecycle management of high earth-rock dam project was discussed. Total control platform of lifecycle information management of high earth-rock dam project was divided into eight modules, namely, system management module, quantities management module, drawings and inspection data management module, Hydro-BIM visualization module, schedule management module, contract and financial management module, security monitoring and early warning module and information sharing and collaborative work module. Engineering information cloud platform storage and standardized management of high earth-rock dam project came true. Construction quality and management level of high earth-rock dam project are improved;(2) Some of the key technology solutions of total control platform of high earth-rock dam project based on lifecycle management are discussed, especially project information sharing and document collaboration office and Hydro-BIM model creation methods and safety monitoring and early warning system were researched in this paper, laying a solid foundation of total control platform of high earth-rock dam project based on lifecycle management;(3) Relying on a domestic high earth-rock dam, topography information visualization methods of high earth-rock dam project based on Skyline are researched. Hydro-BIM model creation way and information storage and management of high earth-rock dam are built based on Hydro-BIM technology and Autodesk's Revit software, it displays on total control platform of high earth-rock dam project based on lifecycle management, this paper provides a useful reference for improving the high earth-rock dam project management level based on the full life cycle.
