In recent years, with the development of national science and technology and the enhancement of national comprehensive strength, the highway engineering has been listed as a national key development item. China is a mountainous country. The geological condition is very complex especially in the complex topography and geology region of southwest area. Because of many highway construction is built with deep-cut, the original stress of many excavation slope rock and soil body redistributed and it is leading the original equilibrium state to the inverse state. That's why it is easy to cause many kinds of geological disasters.According to the existing research results of geotechnical engineering investigation and design technology, combining with the author's professional experience in theory and engineering practice, the author systematically made a study of geotechnical investigation of highway slope support engineering, including the effectiveness and limitations of it and using the investigation results to extract the related parameters of retaining structure design of highway slope and put forward the design scheme of slope management. The effectiveness and practicability of this paper are verified through the actual engineering application results. It made the idea of theory guiding practice come true. The main content of this paper is as follows:First, the methods and theory of highway slope support engineering has been studied in this paper. The applicability and limitations of engineering geophysical prospecting, drilling, and the rock and soil sampling technique have been discussed in detail and finally the author proposed a effective prospecting techniques in view of the typical “cohesionless soil-cohesive soil-bedrock” three layer geological model of highway slope.Second, in the integrated interpretation of the result of the investigation, the author analyzed and summarized the achievement of high-density electrical method, drilling and the soil sampling technique. The effective rock and soil physical and mechanical parameter of the landslide body was extracted by the organic combination of results of three methods. Then the author obtained the work area landslide characteristics is the work area belongs to the bedding landslide, gravel soil-cohesive soil-bedrock type landslide, the landslide is over type, its mechanical property is traction.Finally, with the combining of the investigation results and the soil physical and mechanical parameters, the author used the Slide software which is based on the limit equilibrium theory and the transfer coefficient method to analyze the stability of highway slope and determined the geometry characteristics of most dangerous sliding surface. the results are coinciding with the investigation results and theoretical analysis of three layers geological model slope this paper proposed. It verified the effectiveness of the exploration techniques and sampling analysis. On the basis of this the author put forward the reasonable structure design scheme of highway slope support engineering. The scheme was used in the practical engineering and achieved satisfactory results.The innovation of this paper was to use the actual highway slope engineering geological problems as a starting point, systematically studies the prospecting technology which is used to solve the geological problem of highway slope. The author of this paper emphasized the concept of integrated investigation technology which is using the comprehensive results of engineering geophysical exploration, engineering geological drilling and the comprehensive results of rock and soil sampling analysis to precisely defined highway slope geometry size and the sliding mechanism of the landslide, and then the author proposed the the reasonable structure design scheme of highway slope support engineering which was used in the practical engineering and achieved satisfactory results. With the combination of effectiveness of integrated investigation techniques, reliability of design parameter of rock and soil and rationality of design of highway slope support engineering, the research contents in this paper was demonstrated to be significant and valuable to the area of conforming three layer geological model of highway slope and was also significant in other similar highway slope engineering in other area. It has realized the important idea of theory guide practice.
