With the rapid development of new power systems and people's increasing demands of power quality, power companies and users are increasingly concerned about the issue of power quality. As the power electronics technology widely used in various industries,the impact of harmonics on the power system are more and more serious. Therefore, it's very important to design a multi-function power quality monitoring system. It will not only be able to detect real-time electrical parameters such as voltage, current, power, power factor and frequency, but also to accurate monitor a variety of power quality problems in power system. So people can take further measures to ensure that the power system can run smoothly.This paper first describes the background and significance of the system,and then the paper describes the general framework design of the system and the system's hardware design and software implementation. This design mainly includes voltage, current acquisition module, the metering module, MCU control module, power module, communications module, data storage, clock module, input and output interface module, buttons and LCD display module. In this design we choose Renesas'16-bit high-speed microcontroller R5F364AEDFA as MCU and we choose the dedicated energy measurement chip IDT90E36 to monitor fundamental and harmonic energy. This system can not only measure and calculate the voltage, current, power factor, phase angle,frequency parameters, but also can analyze and record other power quality parameters like the frequency deviation, voltage deviation, phase unbalance, harmonic content. RS485 communication technology make it easily to transmit data between user and master power management system. This design has a simple structure and it's accuracy is very high, so it can greatly help us to improve the power quality.At the end of the article, the main performance of the system was tested and the results prove that the device is capable of measure power quality accurately. Through the analysis of test data, we know that this design can meet the required measurement accuracy. By the accurate measurement of each power quality parameters, the electricity sector and users can better monitor the power quality and these parameters can also help to improve energy utilization rate effectively.
