Assembly process planning is an important part in the product lifecycle. It is a bridge that connects the product designing with the manufacture process. Especially, for diesel engine, one of the complex assemblies, its assembly process is more complex, while knowledge process is complex and dynamic, it is hard to get effective verification after the completion of the assembly process design So, the study of the assembly process planning system is of great significance to improve the production efficiency and the quality of products, for diesel engine manufacturing enterprises. This paper researches and develops an assembly process design and simulation system of diesel engine based on knowledge, according to the assembly requirements of diesel engine in manufacturing enterprises, and on the basis of a diesel engine enterprise information project. The main contents are as follows:1. Taking the diesel engine as a research object, this paper describes the modeling method of diesel engine assembly objects and establishes complete product hierarchy model. Through the collection of diesel engine assembly process knowledge,we analyzeand classify the characteristics of process knowledge. In order to reuse process knowledge, this paper introduces ontology into assembly process knowledge, then combined with the common ontology modeling method, we accomplish the modeling of process knowledge using skeleton method and seven- step integrated modeling method. Then, use the OWL ontology language to describe part of diesel engine process knowledge in Protégé. This lays the foundation for the semantic retrieval in later paper.2. This paper studies the diesel engine assembly process knowledge based on ontology technology, by making full use of the process knowledge, studies fully semantic retrieval techniques of process knowledge based on ontology. By calculating semantic similarity among process ontology concepts, we can improve the accuracy and comprehensiveness of knowledge reasoning. Then, according to the final classification of knowledge, this paper studies its application in the process design system.3. This paper studies the simulate information integration based on structured data model. It proposes the assembly process design system and the digital simulation platform Tecnomatix integration technology, and Uses a Shared database to store structured data. As a result, accomplishing the validation after the assembly process design, and ensuring the accuracy of the process design.4. In the application background of some diesel engine manufacturing enterprise. This paper introduces the overall framework and the development environment of integrating assembly process design system with simulation platform, and describes the main function interface. Finally, through the diesel engine instance, proves the feasibility of the system.
