Reinforced concrete short shear wall structure system is widely used in practical engineering because of the combination of the advantages of frame structure and shear wall structure. There already have been a lot of achievements about the research of seismic performance of wall limbs which have various section forms. However, for the complexity of the load circumstances joint suffering, researches on the joint is not abundant. Many problems, especially, seismic performance of short limb shear wall structure and the mechanism of wall-limb joint under reciprocating horizontal load, need to be discussed. This paper is to study the seismic performance of the short limb shear wall structure by applying cyclic horizontal load that simulates seismic action on a short limb shear wall structure model and to further research the mechanics behaviors and deformation of wall limb joint. This research mainly aims to complete the work:1.Designing and constructing a 1/4 short limb shear wall structure model. The model is tested by using pseudo-static test to simulate seismic action. The results of structure model test show that tie-beam is the weak area in the short shear wall structure which presents the first crack, then crack develops at wall limb root.Theoretical analysis shows that the tie-beam plastic hinge is appearing makes the internal force redistribution which effectively dissipate seismic energy and lighten the burden of energy consumption of the wall limbs.2.With the aid of finite element analysis software ANSYS,finite element analysis model that has same geometric dimension and reinforcement with test model is established. The finite element analysis results are compared with test results of study to analyze stress deformation and failure pattern of short limb shear wall structure system in different elastic-plastic deformation stages.Using pushover analysis theory to study elastic-plastic response and overthrow mechanism of the whole structure system under different loading ways.3.Established the finite element analysis model of the joint thatconnecting middle T section wall limbs with floor beam.Changing the concrete strength, axial compression ratio, longitudinal reinforcement ratio of beam, longitudinal reinforcement ratio of wall limb and stirrup ratio of wall limb and other factors to analyze the impact of these factors on the limit bearing capacity,Stiffness degradation of joint.4.Based on the result of the finite element analysis, three line restoring force mode of the joint under horizontal reciprocating load is established that can provide reference to joint elastic-plastic analysis.
