The worldwide environmental pollution and energy crisis provide an opportunity for the development of clean energy industry, and solar power has the characteristics such as renewable, widely distributed, not polluted and so on, which has won the widespread concerns. Because photovoltaic(PV) power station can relief the existing electricity consuming pressure of power system and improve the reliability of the power supply, PV generation has been developed rapidly. However, because there is no domestic PV grid-connected management standards and technical specifications, it is very hard to make an evaluation of the influence of PV power station on power system, which increasing the complexity and difficulty of the PV power generation system grid-connected. Therefore, this paper did a deep research and analysis on the operating characteristics and effects on power system of Xilinguole 10 MW PV power station.This paper introduced different kinds of conditions of Xilinguole Erlianhaote City in detail, such as geography, environment, meteorological, solar radiation amounts, and gave the data that solar radiation amounts received from the horizontal plane and optimal slope where Erlianhaote PV power station was located. In addition, solar radiation amounts received by the PV module surfaces were counted when the PV modules were installed with the optimal tilt angle(43 degrees). The selection and evaluation standards of Erlianhaote 10 MW PV power station wre elaborated based on three aspects: the engineering geological, electric loads on user side and promotions for the development of the local tourism industry, and this paper provided the detailed data on many actual aspects in the Erlianhaote district, such as topography, hydrological and geological conditions, site seismic effect and stability evaluation, to verifying the rationality of the PV power station site selection.The simulation platform of Xilinguole 10 MW PV power station was built, and it was introduced that the using instruction of the platform and relevant calculation methods on experimental data. Furthermore, the annual energy output was calculated grossly by using the accumulated data and software analysis. On this basis, itwas designed that the types of PV modules, deviation angles and azimuth angles of PV arrays, space between PV arrays and arrangements of PV modules after considering different factors such as performances and prices of the PV modules, specific conditions of the PV power station, running reliability, and so on. According to the actual characteristics of the project, the main electrical wiring and electrical equipment were selected and designed.According to the relevant technology standards on PV grid-connected, the specific designing plan of the relaying protection and electric equipment selection in Erlianhaote 10 MW PV power station was given in combination with the provisions of relaying protection and security automatic equipment. Then, in combination with the designing provisions of power system dispatching automation, it was made that the design and configuration schemes on telecontrol system plans, comprehensive communication management terminals, automatic generation control devices, automatic voltage control devices, remote electric energy metering system and secondary system security protection.
