Power flow calculation is the basis of the system operation analysis. Now the power grid tends interconnection between a large area. The transmission line between one area and another once disconnected, can cause the system split,thus, formed many electrical islands; Once large capacity-generator or load get out or put into, the system power flow changes. If the system operation situation before it happens is known, the system stability and reliability can be highly improved. In recent years, with the expanding of the grid scale, analysis and processing of the results the power flow calculation is becoming more and more difficult. At the same time, the traditional management methods only focus on the management of attribute data, lacking of spatial data management capabilities, though a lot of information power system is closely related to the geographical location. Based on the above problems, the problem to be solved in this paper is how to realize the multi-island power flow calculation of the system; how to realize the high efficiency analysis of the power flow data; how to realize the combination of spatial data and attribute data.In virtue of visualization lately, the paper expatiates that the visualization treats with power system running data intuitively. At the same time, based on Geographical Information System, Database Technologies, Visualization Technology, this paper draw support spatial data management, spatial topology analysis, data visualization processor, describing the spatial characteristics and other aspects superiority of GIS, then combining the attribute data and spatial data; and realizing visualization analysis and management to data successfully. At the same time, combining multi-island power flow calculation program with the development power GIS system, achieve multi-island power flow of power system visual analysis.In the achievement of the system, this system is developed by Visual C++ on the GIS platform Arc/Info, using Oracle for database, developing power GIS with integrated secondary development of AE(ArcGIS Engine)component. And take the IEEE13 node system as an example, the function of interpolation, rendering, query and other functions of the system are demonstrated. Using ArcGIS rich symbol library, powerful network analysis and data processing ability, not only display the result of flow calculation in the visual interface with rich graphical symbols and data table, but also can achieve switching operation of electrical equipment. So it is convenient for managers to understand system operating conditions quickly, to make judgments, achieve the preface combination of geographic information system and power system.
