The development of electric system makes the scale and voltage level of grid significantly improved and the structure of grid is becoming more and more complex, which has brought the huge challenge for the safe operation of electric system. Relay protection is one of the important devices which can guarantee the safe operation of electric system. The substation relay protection renovation can make the operation of electric system more safe and reliable, at the same time can improve the reliability and sustainability of power supply.Substation relay protection renovation project involves many electrical components and the process of renovation is complex. Substation relay protection renovation project has high requirements for quality, cost and schedule. The schedule can affect the quality and safety of the whole project and long time limit for a project will reduce the benefits at the same time.So it is important to manage and optimize the schedule of the substation relay protection renovation project to ensure the project will be completed on schedule.This article expounds the related theory of schedule and substation relay protection. The related theory of schedule mainly expounds the process of schedule management, the methods of schedule plan, the network planning technique and the critical path method. The related theory of substation relay protection mainly expounds the relay protection basic principle and role, the classification of relay protection, the type and rebuilding characteristics of substation relay protection. Then the present situation of Chezhoushan substation is analyzed and the content of Chezhoushan substation relay protection renovation project is put forward, at the same time the construction requirements and relevant management measures of Chezhoushan substation relay protection renovation project are elaborated in detail. After the schedule factors of Chezhoushan substation relay protection renovation project are analyzed by using the triangular fuzzy number evaluation method and the the importance of each factor is determined, the schedule optimization can be completed through the control of important factors. Finally, the schedule of Chezhoushan substation relay protection renovation project is analyzed by the network planning technique. After the critical work is determined, the time of Chezhoushan 110 kV circuit breakers and disconnect switches protection renovation project is shortened to optimize the schedule of the whole project. The total duration of Chezhoushan substation relay protection renovation project shortens 32 days by optimization, it only need413 days to be completed.
