Ningbo Traditional Villages have a long history and profound culture.During the seven thousand years,settlements came to being hillside,waterfront and coastal pattern with local features.Taking the individual angle,the paper analyzes architectural layout,street aqueous space and environment.It concludes how the ancestors inherit and develop their wisdom in the dynamic evolution of the southern hinterland with water network.It makes villages penetrate culture,politics and economy into objects,such as architecture,streets and landscapes in the generations,and provides the historical basis for modern people to protect heritage.Using the systematic,dynamic,comparative methods and field research,the article analyzes well preserved 33 traditional villages in Ningbo area.Firstly,pointing out the causes and environmental features,summarizing the distribution characteristics of traditional villages in Ningbo to conclude environmental and layout features under different factors.Secondly,it classified the various elements to the function,composition,scale and effects of water,streets,architecture and interactive space.Lastly,after finding the impact to traditional village pattern in modern times,the paper analyzes advantages and disadvantages of various strategies in relevant experience,and explores a feasible method for developing conservation of the whole environment around traditional villages.This paper want to makes different types of villages match the law of regional development by analyzing the historical evolution in Ningbo Traditional Villages.Under the premise of modern demand to keep its historical resources and cultural value,it explores out a suitable effective path to make Ningbo Traditional Villages sustainable developing.
