The Research Of The Elder's Outdoor Activity Space Design Under The Background Of "Square Dance"

In recent years,there are groups of the elderly people dancing in the city streets,squares and parks following up the square dance music,have become a scenery line of each city.With the success of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the country's "fitness plan" issued,elderly people began to focus on the importance of physical and mental health,they started a number of leisure and recreational activities during their leisure time.However,square dancing,as group fitness activate,has become one of the most popular mass sports movement.On one hand,it doesn't have the limited of number of people,age or space;on the other hand,square dancing can further enrich people's spiritual life and promoting exchanges,has become elderly people's favorite.Now,square dancing is China's unique national spirit and cultural activities,and increasingly prosperous.However,there is still a lot of negative news coverage about square dancing,like take the public space and noise problems and aroused the concern of the community.Behind those contradictions,it reflects on lack of planning,performance for restricted space,activities interfere with each other,less public space,noise,and unsafe.This paper aiming at the square dancing public space issue,accessing to relevant documents,summarizing the current situation on domestic research in this area.With observe,photograph,interview,and doing the field research,analysis square dancing's characteristics and existing problems,understand the needs of space environment of square dancing.After the research and analysis,the key words for design the environment of group activities like square dancing are:security,sharing,privacy,convenience and so on.To fit the angle of the square dance activity for the elderly people,according to the key words to make exploratory design,in accordance with the principle of public space design,study on the public space,including space layout,space,shape,and safety facilities.Make the strategies and proposals for design the space environment for square dancing,and then make the final summarize.Though the study of space environment of square dancing,with a view to resolving existing problems,ease the contradiction between the public,give the elderly people a safe,convenient,comfortable and harmonious public space to do fitness activity.Let the modern city public space environment to play a better role on the public's recreational functions.Hope it is helpful for the future design of city public space environment,improve older people's happiness,and conform to the trend of social development.
