Power transmission has the advantages of low loss, high efficiency, flexible and fast, small pollution, etc. In addition, by connecting different regions and different types of power plants, power transmission can achieve peak and valley regulation of power system load. It is the direct manifestation of the superiority of the power system, and it is an important energy artery. The research object of this paper is the planning and design of high voltage overhead transmission line.The planning and design of high voltage overhead transmission line is a complex system optimization project, the level of its design will directly affect the security,stability and economic benefits of power system. According to the power industry standard Regulation for content and depth of preliminary design for overhead transmission line(DL/T 5451-2012), the planning and design of transmission line should contain the line route, meteorological conditions, conductors and ground wires,insulation coordination, lightning protection and grounding, tower design and foundation design. Based on this, this paper mainly does the following two aspects of the work. First, this paper plans and designs the 220 kV Transmission Line in Chengde Hongqi, Focuses on the transmission line path selection method, proposed two path planning program, and by comparison to get the recommended scheme. Second,verified the result of the design of the 220 kV Transmission Line in Chengde Hongqi.After a review of domestic and international data, summarizes the research status of transmission line design, and a comparative analysis is carried out. Combined with this design, the paper puts forward three suggestions for the design of high voltage overhead transmission line in China.
